Hotel GF

Hotel “GF” was built during a period of ambitious coastal tourism development in Georgia in the late 2000s. Designed as a modern seaside resort, it featured luxury accommodation, swimming pools, spa facilities, and restaurants.

For several years, the hotel welcomed guests and operated as one of the region’s most recognizable hospitality landmarks. Its striking silhouette overlooking the Black Sea made it an instantly identifiable feature of the coastline. Despite its impressive design and facilities, however, the property's success proved to be short-lived.

As tourism growth slowed and several large-scale development projects in the surrounding area stalled or were cancelled, visitor numbers declined significantly. Maintaining such a large resort became increasingly difficult, and the hotel eventually ceased operations. Although it has often been described as "temporarily closed," there has been no meaningful sign of reopening, and the building has remained vacant for years.

Today, Hotel GF stands silently on the shore of the Black Sea. Nature has gradually begun reclaiming the grounds, and one can spot green moss growth on the top section of the hotel, perhaps once a lively nightclub. The outdoor pools are empty, and tall grass grows around the majestic hotel. 

Walking along the promenade where Hotel GF stands, one can see both decay and redevelopment around the town. Perhaps this town will become the next luxurious destination filled with tourists, or perhaps it will evolve into an interesting place for urban explorers.
